PARTAY AT ALY'S HOUSE!!!

"This is it, I think," Cady announced as they ascended the porch steps that lead to the front door. "I hope they're home..." She was about to pound on the door when she noticed the doorbell. So instead she rang it about ten times and, once she felt that she had made enough noise for someone in the house to notice and answer the door, she took a step back and waited.

Logan followed Cady up the porch, keeping his hands behind his back, partially to be polite and look nice, but also because he was pretty nervous. Meeting new people always seemed to be really awkward for him.

He looked around, wondering what the houses looked like in Amelia, where the "clio" were from. Avery had filled him in at the library, and he was glad that he did so. The more Avery told him, the more interested he became.

"Please be home," he breathed, hoping that they didn't get their hopes up for nothing.

Alyria was sitting up in her room, Alecis next to her, reading. The two had found this common ground and now it took up the majority of their time together. Aly was still bitter from the whole predicament between Cady and the clio, but she didn't want to take it out on Alecis who was already miserable enough as it was.

About a week and a half ago the only thing that was keeping Alecis grounded left, and it seemed that she was never happy anymore. So even though Alyria would have liked to know more about the strange land of Amelia and it's clio, she just let Alecis do as she pleased and didn't ask many questions. Thinking about home seemed to upset the girl and her fox.

Several shrill doorbell songs echoed through the giant house suddenly. The ringer obviously wasn't very patient, the bell had been pressed rapidly, without waiting for an answer. It was lucky that the aunt and uncle were out at work or someone would be getting the rudeness lecture.

Alecis had looked up suddenly when the song rang out, unsure of what it was exactly. Alyria fought back the urge to laugh at the alarm on her face, then got up and ran down the stairs to the door. Maybe something exciting would be on the other side.

A loud song awoke Alecis from her book, pulling her out of the fantasy world and into another that was equally as strange to her. It scared her at first, the only thing she could think of it being was some sort of alarm, and usually alarms didn't sound for good things.

Looking to Alyria for an answer she saw the girl next to her get off the bed and sprint down to the door. Oh. The doorbell. Alyria had introduced her to the button when they had first come to her house. That had been when Rowan was still with them.

Alecis shook the thought of the Dian out of her head, it wouldn't be good to start thinking about him, and then followed Alyria to the door. When she got there Aly had already opened it. Alecis stared into the faces of three people, Cady, Avery, and another that Alecis didn't know. What were they all doing here?

"Aly! Hi!" Cady greeted enthusiastically, trying to ignore the fact
that everyone in the doorway probably hated her with a passion. "I know
you guys probably aren't thrilled to see me...Haha...but look!"

She grabbed the two boys behind her and shoved them foreword. "I brought help! He-" she gave Avery a nudge, "is a clio and he-" she smacked Logan on the arm, "has been researching the whole Amelia thing."

She grinned, hoping that this made up for all her previous mistakes.

Logan eeped a little as he was practically thrown forward. "Ow," he said lightly, holding his arm after she slapped it.

He looked to the two girls standing before him, with nothing in his eyes but hope and a wanting of knoweledge. Meeting an Overloridian sounded exciting; they had so much power, though it was lost when they came here. Too bad they couldn't use their Eilemaiden. That woulda been sooooo cooooool.

"Hello, I'm Logan Price," he said. "Nice to meet you."

Alyria had not been expecting the faces she saw when she opened her front door. Caught off gaurd for a moment, she paused, taking the three in. Cady was there with two other people she had never seen before. But why?

"Uh, hello," Aly said, not sure of what else to say. Had Cady come back to apologize again? Even if she had, it would do no good. Alecis and herself had forgiven her a long time ago(mostly at least) and the only one that hadn't was gone.

She stayed staring at the trio and then noticed her horrible manners(her aunt really had rubbed off on her...ew) so she invited them in.

The five were now all sitting in Alyria's nice, white living room, sitting next to each other. Alecis had greeted the new one, Logan, who was a human like Cady and Aly. But now they were all kind of awkward. It probably had to do with the fact that they had left Cady for a reason and now she was here, but Alecis didn't really mind. She was glad to see some familiar faces.

"So!" Cady said loudly, after about five minutes of the most awkward silence EVER. Well...second-most. The most awkward silence was when she had confessed to running Rowan over with her car. Speaking of which, where was he? Whatever. She was kind of relieved she didn't have to face him right now.

"So," she repeated, not knowing what to say.

Logan definitely felt...weird. He was happy that he could see yet another daemon (he loved 'em)...another clio, at that. He wanted to ask her tons of questions, especially since Avery told him that Alecis was an Overloridian. He kept quiet for the moment being, since he didn't feel very comfortable asking questions just yet. He didn't feel very comfortable at all, actually. The awkward silence was a bit scary.

"Oh, yeah, er, I figured you might be here for Rowan..." she paused, letting the room recede back into silence before she started talking again. "He, uh, left..." She left out the reason, not want to embarrass Leci.

Well, now what? This was so strange, how come this was so awkward? Alecis wanted to break the ice but she didn't know how. But then Alyria spoke

He, uh, left..."

Great. Now they'd want to know why. She wanted to glare at Aly, to smack her, but she refrained, it wouldn't do any good now. The damage was done.

She waited in silence for the inevitable question someone would ask.

"What? Whattaya mean he left? Like, for good? Or just for a while? Why?" Cady asked very quickly, talking unnecessarily loud. Why would a guy leave his own fiancee in such horrible circumstances? Leci must have done something bad. Uh oh, Cady hoped she wasn't bringing up bad memories for the poor girl. Oh well, she'd already asked. Too late to take anything back.

Logan wanted to speak up really badly. He turned to Avery as the girls talked, feeling bad that they'd come here to talk about some other person. Or clio, maybe. Whatever.

He turned back to the girls and opened his mouth, hesitating to speak. He did so anyways, ready to be told to shut up. "Uhm, sorry to interrupt..." he muttered, "but maybe we should talk about Amelia some...maybe try to figure out some way to get home...talk about what happened there?"

"Er, uh, he went to go find out more about the rift." It wasn't a lie, not really...

She turned to the new boy, Logan, to change the subject. "Yeah, I think it's a good idea if we talk about Amelia. A brilliant idea, actually."

Leci's cheeks flushed violently when Cady sputtered out the question about Rowan, but calmed a little as Aly tried to cover up the problem.

"Sure, we can talk about Amelia," Alecis started, pushing her hair out her eyes, "Where should we start though?" She looked to Avery.

Cady frowned. She didn't buy it. "Yeah right," she said. "But whatever. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." Oh, but she wanted to know so bad.

She didn't really know what the point was of them talking about Amelia now, since Avery and Leci had both already talked about it and came up with nothing.

"Alright, I understand that we don't have any clue as to how you got here or how you can get back, but I was thinking more along the lines of the happenings in Amelia before you showed up here. Did people, or clio rather, start disappearing slowly or was it sudden? Was there anything happening in Amelia that may have seemed strange before this 'rift' showed up? And what about the clio, were there any relations between those that went through the rift?"

Holy shit, Logan thought to himself. What did he think he was, some investigator? He probably sounded really lame right now. What the hell was wrong with him? Why couldn't he just keep his mouth shut?

Alecis did take offense to that, "Alright, so we do you think we should do, smarty pants?" She wasn't going to let some lame kid tell her off, "How do you expect we figure anything out if we don't go over it? Chances are the answer is right in front of our noses."

She was glaring at him when Logan spoke. She listened to all of his questions and then smiled. Now, this kid was on the right track. If they just thought about everything calmly and tried to piece things together, maybe they'd figure something out.

"Well," Alecis started slowly, trying to think of anything strange that had happened before the rift, "Quite awhile ago all of the Overloridians found these things we call star pieces. Each one fell into our separate Eilemaiden bases, and they all correspond with them. Mine was a light blue, Dian's was silver, and so on. I don't know if that would have anything to do with the rift though, they were just these weird rocks... Although," Alecis pointed out something that might have relevance, "they did cause something to happen when a clio held them. My power was stronger when the star piece was touching my body in some way. Like it was giving my Eilemaiden strength or something..."

She looked back at Avery and sort of wished she had made him leave the room before she had said all that. The Overloridians weren't supposed to share the power of the star pieces with the clio. It could cause trouble to Amelia. Oh well what was done was done. She looked back to Logan, hoping perhaps something she said would tell him what was wrong. Unfortunately it probably wouldn't, he was only human after all.

Leci might as well be speaking gibberish. Cady had no idea what she was talking about or what it had to do with the rift. She could see the dissatisfaction on Avery's face and felt kind of bad for getting his hopes up.

But whatevs.

Logan nodded along to everything that Alecis was saying. Magnificent. He thought real hard for a minute or two, trying to make some connection between the 'star pieces' and the rift.

"Well, I was thinking that maybe those pieces that fell were the source of your power, but that wouldn't make sense because they weren't there before. Maybe they were the source of the rift? Maybe the power of the star pieces created some sort of inbalance in the power on Amelia and created what you went through: the rift."

This wasn't helping at all and he knew it. Even if what he was saying was right, which it probably wasn't because it sounded somewhat like this comic he had made a while ago called "The Black Hole of Thayunga," (only without the star pieces and such) they had no way of getting another inbalance that was large enough to create another rift.

...

"Why don't you just leave then? No one is making you stay. I know that that hasn't helped before, but what do you think we should do, huh? Just amble around like nothing has happened? Just sitting here isn't going to fix anything."
